A course for School Leaders, DSLs and School Governors
Schools must act robustly to protect pupils from sexual harassment and violence and online sexual abuse. Concerns around children’s safety following a prolonged period of remote and online learning and developments in PSHE curricula are now reflected in school inspection frameworks.
School leaders and designated safeguarding leads must create a whole-school culture and climate in which pupils can communicate their experiences safely. This action must start with the reality of pupils’ own respective experiences, both current and historical. A whole-school approach must also include all staff too, and must accommodate staff experience of sexual violence, present and historical.
This CPD opportunity offers school leaders a safe space to begin grappling with these expectations and to share breakthroughs in policy and practice.
Attendees will evaluate their schools’ preparedness to listen to their pupils’ lived experiences and how to reflect a whole school approach to keeping children and staff safe – online, on-site and beyond the school gates.
