Recruitment

Recruitment Process

Applications to our SCITT programmes must be submitted through the Department for Education’s Apply service. Links to each programme can be found on our Apply page.

Once received, our team will acknowledge your application via email.  Once checked for eligibility, your application will be passed to the relevant subject lead and/or school for consideration.

Provided your application meets the eligibility criteria, you will be invited to attend your chosen school for interview.  Interviews are designed to be welcoming but also rigorous, to ensure that you are making a fully informed decision about your choice of provider and/or school.

Interviews

The interview will usually be carried out in person and in the selected placement school.  Interviews will typically include the following:

  • A tour of the  school and the opportunity to meet staff (an opportunity to meet the people you will be working with);
  • A teaching task (with a small group of approximately 10 students);
  • A formal interview (the panel will include a member of the SCITT central team and a subject specialist, either from the SCITT team or the placement school);
  • A written task to assess literacy, numeracy, and subject knowledge (this allows us to identify any areas that may require support – this is not pass or fail!)
The interview day will provide all applicants with the opportunity to find out more about the programme and to ask any questions.

Offers

Possible interview outcomes include:

  • Unconditional offer (subject to final checks)
  • Conditional offer (academic or non-academic conditions)
  • Rejection

Successful applicants will be contacted by the SCITT  via telephone and receive written confirmation of their offer. All offers remain subject to satisfactory references, DBS and health clearances.

Equality and Diversity

Prince Henry’s and South Worcestershire SCITT is committed to widening participation and advancing equality of opportunity. Applicants are encouraged disclose any disabilities or additional needs via the application process.  For the purposes of interview, applicants will be asked to notify the SCITT of any specific access requirements.

  • The admissions process was not conducted fairly or transparently
  • Published procedures were not followed
